At the same time, I hold true to the belief I've always had: that this day is not just for lovers, but for people to show how much love they have for each other. I think our feelings of alone-ness are soothed by the knowledge that we have great friends still around us to make us feel less lonely. We recognize the importance of having friends to talk to, the presence of someone to hug, or laugh with, and are thankful for the way they make us smile, and the way our hearts lighten when they are near. And even though we may not be in love with someone, we are always loved, and we always have people to love (even if it's just Mom and Dad ;o).
So on that note, I hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day, and that someone gives you candy (I got mine from my Spanish prof, in the form of sugar hearts that said "llame me" and "linda" and "para ti"). If no one does, come to me and I'll give you a cookie :o)
